[Reflection of Central Asia Christian Women Leadership Training Program]
Sienna Eunsoo Kang

Central Asia Christian Women Leadership Program was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan under the theme of ‘One Heart, One Passion, One Vision, For Mission!’ from March 12-15, 2019. The program was organized by GBGM Central Asia, NNKUMW, and the Scranton Women’s Leadership Center. I participated in this program as a representative of Scranton Center and led the Community Building and Praise with Dancing.

I was not able to erase from my mind the question of ‘Can we have one heart, one passion, one vision like the theme of the program through these sessions?’ as I prepared the program. Because the basic language could not work, so I had to communicate with the participants through the translation from Korean into Russian. However, I realized that my concerns were unnecessary as I proceeded through the program. It was not a problem for us at all to use different languages. We were already one sister as beloved daughters in God. I was able to laugh, gladly praise, and enjoy the moment with them because it was written in their faces that ‘I am ready to praise God with you!, I am ready to dream the one heart, one passion, and one vision!’.

Their lives had never been smooth. This is because they had to keep their faith in the Muslim culture, taking responsibility for their family and relatives from alcoholism and drug addiction. Nonetheless, their pure faith and hope were truly dazzling. I was so embarrassed in front of them as a member of Korean Church that became so structured. I went to serve them but I was served by them.

The leadership of KUMW leaders was also a great learning for me. Their leadership, which is tailored to the situation, was not lacking administratively while moving people’s minds. Also, the dedication of the missionaries in the area was a lesson that allowed me to see new world that I had not seen before.

I am grateful to God, Scranton Center, and NNKUMW for giving me this opportunity. This time will be a great driving force in my life which is offered to God.
